Sun lounge makes the Isel even more enjoyable

On November 4, work will begin on the second major construction phase of the flood protection project in the Isel. This will also lay the foundations for the Sun Lounge, which will significantly change the appearance of the Isel Park and provide space for relaxation seekers.

After the flood protection measures in the Isel have already proven themselves several times this summer following the winter of 2023/24, work on the second major construction phase of the flood protection project in the Isel will start on Monday, November 4, if the water level permits.

As in the first construction phase, construction traffic will also take place within the riverbed this time. This will largely avoid disruptions in inner-city traffic, even though some of the construction activities will shift to the Isel Park area.

There, on a plateau of around 500 square meters (approx. 50 x 10 meters), a cozy, terrace-like Sun Lounge with benches is being built for around 180,000 euros (including taxes), which is intended to provide relaxation seekers with the right place and setting for relaxation in the future.

To enable this, the existing riverbank wall will be cut open at the water level of a thirty-year flood, and the stone embankment will be raised moderately so that access to the water of the Isel will even be possible in the future.

Further planned construction projects include the demolition of the sediment measuring station, which will be located in the area of the Glanzer Bridge in Oberlienz in the future, as well as the stone embankment on both sides of the river from the Spitals Bridge to the Pfarr Bridge. In addition, the construction of a wall will take place on the orographic right side of the Spitals Bridge.
