Housing and Buildings

The department of Housing and Buildings deals with a central factor of basic services - the allocation of city-owned apartments and cooperative apartments based on social criteria. Another area of responsibility is the property management for the numerous city-owned properties.

Housing

Due to the central geographical location of the city, not only supra-local infrastructure facilities focus on Lienz, but it is also the high quality of life that makes housing a special area of responsibility for the city administration, including the fields of apartment search, allocation, and relocation.

The city"s housing policy is carried out in close partnership with non-profit housing developers.

Home is considered a haven by many in a hectic world. In the sunny city of Lienz, the housing committee addresses the concerns of the citizens and deals with apartment allocation approximately every six weeks. This allocation is based on social criteria, taking into account factors such as income situation, family size, and existing housing situation.

The allocation is also significantly influenced by the housing promotion guidelines of the Tyrolean State Government, Department of Housing Promotion.

Buildings

Municipal building management is strategically focused on the preservation and improvement of building structures, the design of high user quality, and at the same time the promotion of high resource and energy efficiency with positive effects on the CO2 balance. Another area is the classic building management with the aim of providing users with cost-effective and efficient living and utility space.

The city of Lienz continuously invests in the modernization and ecological upgrading of 254 city-owned old residential buildings.

A complementary field of activity is the development of usage concepts and strategies for urban properties.
