Bruck Castle

"... worthy of a prince...", this is how the Tyrolean topographer Beda Weber characterized Bruck Castle. For over 750 years, the castle built by the Counts of Gorizia has been towering, imposing yet simple, high above the city of Lienz - offering a surprising variety. Its walls were once a symbol of power and the residence of the Counts of Gorizia.

The population mainly knows the castle for its nationally recognized exhibitions, as a charming venue for concerts, relaxed hours on the probably most beautiful sun terrace in the city, or civil weddings during the summer months. But behind the scenes, the employees year-round take care of the museum"s extensive collection of over 20,000 objects and archival materials to preserve and make it accessible for future generations.

Our employees in the castle are responsible for the maintenance, preservation, and security of the objects and the building. The scope of duties includes the management, planning, and implementation of museum and exhibition operations, the castle cafe and museum shop, as well as the handling of extensive loans, the processing of subsidy and funding applications, or the writing of publications.
