Mayor

The Mayor LA Dipl.-Ing. Elisabeth Blanik steht an der Spitze der Lienzer Stadtverwaltung und ist Vorsitzende von Gemeinde- und Stadtrat. Sie führt die Geschäfte der Stadtgemeinde Lienz und vertritt diese auch nach außen. Als Vorständin der Stadtverwaltung ist sie für die erforderliche personelle und sachliche Ausstattung verantwortlich und hat grundsätzlich die dienst- und arbeitsrechtlichen Angelegenheiten der Gemeindebediensteten wahrzunehmen.

Another important task of the mayor is to implement decisions of the other bodies of the city of Lienz, such as the city council or the municipal council. As an authority, the mayor acts sovereignly both in her own area of responsibility and in the delegated area. Her field of activity is determined by state laws (especially the Tyrolean Municipal Code 2001), by federal laws, and by decisions of the other bodies.

The mayor is directly elected by the eligible voters of Lienz in the municipal council and mayoral elections every six years. Due to her function, the mayor is also a central point of contact for citizen concerns.
