City council

The Lienz City Council consists of 21 members and is elected every six years by the eligible male and female citizens of Lienz. According to § 30 of the 2001 Tyrolean Municipal Code, the City Council is the highest body of the municipality. It has to decide on all matters of fundamental importance and to supervise the management of the other municipal bodies.

For reasons of time or simplification of work, the City Council can delegate certain decisions to the City Council or to committees established for economic enterprises or businesses with market-determined activities (for example, the administrative committee of the Lienz municipal utilities).

In the city of Lienz, city council meetings take place approximately once a month.
