Forestry and gardening

The care and design of public green, garden, and park areas (city parks, traffic islands, roadside greenery, tree stock, ...) are also part of the responsibilities of the Forestry and Gardening department, as well as the care, maintenance, and management of the municipal forest of the city of Lienz. Furthermore, the forestry organization serves as a forestry supervisory body and provides supportive advisory services to private forest owners and partial forest rights holders.

The tree cadastre of the trees that are on public city ground is also kept here. In this, more than 3,000 trees are recorded, which are periodically inspected for their traffic safety, tree health, and stability. Department head Ing. Martin König is also responsible for the city"s hunting administration. Three hunting grounds are owned by the city of Lienz (private hunting grounds Schlossberg, private hunting grounds Schwarzboden, and private hunting grounds Rauchkofel). Two hunts are leased. The Schwarzboden hunting ground is managed by the city itself, by issuing hunting permits.
