Go to the bottom of the Isel

The construction measures in the Isel are currently among the largest flood protection projects in Tyrol and one of the biggest construction projects in the district capital Lienz in recent decades.

How advanced the work is can now be experienced by all interested visitors at an "Open Construction Site Day". On Friday, January 31, 2025, all interested visitors are allowed to literally get to the bottom of the glacier river from 1 pm - and that with dry feet. However, since this is a construction site visit, sturdy footwear and surefootedness are necessary.

Experts from the city of Lienz, the Lienz building district office, Revital, and the Hohe Tauern National Park will be on site to answer questions and provide insights into the current and future construction work of the flood protection project, water ecology, and the history of the Isel in general.
