Harmonious voices, award-winning chefs, a city market with regional delicacies, a atmospheric Thanksgiving festival, a castle autumn to enjoy and a day for cycling and exploring: All this is offered by the "Autumn of the Senses" in Lienz.
With the program "Experiencing Autumn with all Senses", Lienz presents itself particularly idyllic in the coming weeks. With the support of the East Tyrol Tourism Association and in cooperation with the participating Lienz business streets, the associations City Market and Osttirol de Luxe, the East Tyrolean Teachers" Choir and the Museum Schloss Bruck, the Lienz City Marketing has put together an entertaining event package that skillfully combines tradition, sociability, as well as visual, auditory, and culinary delights.
Bike day in the Lienz valley floor
Dabei wurde heuer auch an alle Freundinnen und Freunde der Bewegung und gemeinsamer Erlebnisse gedacht: Am Samstag, den 26. September, findet ab 9:30 Uhr der Radtag „Lienzer Talboden – Radeln und Erkunden“ statt. Treffpunkt ist der ÖBB-Park&Ride-Parkplatz in Lienz, wo alle Besucherinnen und Besucher ihr Fahrrad im Vorfeld vom ProBike-Team überprüfen lassen können, das auch kleinere Reparaturen durchführt. Vor Ort gibt es für Kinder eine Hüpfburg und erfrischendes Eis, während der Foodtruck der „Osttiroler Gaumengaudi“ für kulinarische Verpflegung sorgt.
The venue also serves as the starting point for three different star rides in the Lienz valley floor (www.zukunftsraumlienzertalboden.at). The program is rounded off by the opportunity to visit the railway museum or to relax with a coffee with policewomen and policemen ("Coffee with Cops") and inform yourself about safety in cycling.
Harvest Festival at the City Market
Knapp eine Woche später, am Freitag, den 2. Oktober, steht der Lienzer Stadtmarkt von 12 bis 18 Uhr ganz im Zeichen des Erntedankfestes. Spezielle Herbstangebote an den einzelnen Marktständen rücken die heimischen Produzentinnen und Produzenten samt ihren Erzeugnissen in den Mittelpunkt der festlich geschmückten Messinggasse. Kulinarisch begleitet wird das Fest von Osttirol-de-Luxe-Köchen, die ab 12 Uhr live vor Ort am Stadtmarkt aufkochen und zeigen, wie vielfältig Osttirol schmeckt. Musikalisch umrahmt von „Martin & Andreas“ kann man außerdem dem Korbflechter Johann Reiter bei seinem kunstvollen Handwerk zuschauen.
Old Town Singing
The day after, Saturday, October 3, the popular Old Town Singing takes place. The starting point is Johannesplatz, where the choirs gather at 9:30 am to let their harmonious voices be heard at several locations in the Lienz city center after the opening. The Old Town Singing is organized by the Osttirol Teacher"s Choir, which, together with eleven other choirs, transforms Lienz into an open-air concert hall and provides all visitors with good reasons to enjoy the Saturday in the city center a bit longer.
Autumnal Castle Magic
But not only the city center, also Schloss Bruck presents itself in a traditional autumnal way: From September 20 to October 11, entertaining matinees, special tours, and a colorful Kids-Day are offered there. The gastronomic offer in the castle café - with white sausage and wheat beer, a crisp quarter of young wine, and autumnal delicacies - also enhances the program culinarily.
