Amlach Mayor proved toughest shell

Since 2003, on Holy Saturday, the Lienz city market has been regularly invited for Easter egg pecking, and this year 36 personalities from politics, sports, culture, economy, and science followed the invitation to the traditional ritual in Messinggasse. Among them were Federal Minister Norbert Totschnig, Federal Councilor Markus Stotter, Mayor and 2nd Vice President of the Tyrolean Parliament Elisabeth Blanik, the Wahl Lienz resident and world and Olympic champion Benjamin Karl, top chefs Ernst Moser and Hans Peter Sander, international artist Leonard Lorenz, and district captain Bettina Heinricher.
In keeping with the Easter tradition, the event started with a loud performance by the "Dölsacher Ratschenbuabm" with their large wooden rattles.
After 90 minutes and a total of five competition rounds, Amlach Mayor Stefan Clara emerged as the winner. In an exciting final, he defeated Benjamin Karl and crowned himself the winner of the traditional Easter egg pecking in 2025.
Not only the winner was pleased with the success, but also Minister of Agriculture Norbert Totschnig: "The Lienz city market represents an exemplary symbiosis between successful direct marketing, excellent products from regional agricultural businesses, as well as traditional customs and lived regional identity."
