Compost Project in East Tyrol

In the urban composting plant, around 4,000 tons of biogenic waste are converted into valuable compost annually. The aim of the project is to use this high-quality end product to increase regional resource efficiency and soil improvement. This project is also made possible through the support of Regionsmanagement East Tyrol, funding from the European Regional Development Fund and the State of Tyrol, Department of Regional Development/EU Regional Policy.

The project is professionally accompanied by the "HUMUS+ Model Eco-region Kaindorf". At the LLA Lienz, demonstration and display areas are designed and accompanied, where the application and processing of compost and farmyard manure are scientifically examined and analyzed in terms of yield development, plant health, soil improvement, and profitability.

A second level of sensitization and awareness aims at the rural and urban population in the Lienz district.
