Sustainable Urban Development in Bruneck, Lienz, and Agordo

Sustainable Urban Development in Bruneck, Lienz, and Agordo

The project involves the city of Bruneck, the city of Lienz, and the municipality of Agordo from Belluno working together. Bruneck and Lienz have already successfully collaborated on cross-border projects in the past. In the Interreg project “Blooming Cities”, Lienz has created a tree inventory. Bruneck and Agordo can benefit from the experiences and exchange information. In Lienz, existing data sets are harmonized and structured. The tool that emerges from this contains additional important indicators for sustainable

urban development. In addition, a training manual for users of the city administration will be developed and the project results will be presented to the population.

In Bruneck, a tree inventory is being created as part of this project. The locations of the trees on public areas are entered into the database. At the same time, important tree characteristics are recorded by the commissioned experts: e.g. tree species, height, diameter, as well as assessment of damage characteristics and vitality. In addition, a training on tree pruning and tree care for the city nursery will be conducted in the autumn.

In Agordo, the tree stock in two central areas is recorded in an inventory. The health condition, tree stability, and necessary care measures are determined.

Technicians and administrative staff of the municipalities as well as the commissioned

Experts participate in cross-border meetings that serve the exchange of knowledge with partners who have been active in this area for some time.
