Customs and Tradition at the Lienz City Market

During Holy Week there are special opening hours at the Lienz city market and of course all the ingredients for a tasty Easter snack.

The Lienz city market is a popular meeting place for guests and locals. High quality, regionally typical products, utmost care in the production of goods, and the use of traditional refining processes are the success factors to which the market participants of the Lienz city market are dedicated.

On holidays, such as Easter, the 15 market stand operators expand their wide range of products with additional culinary delights. Perfectly tailored to the respective occasion. In line with Holy Week, the diverse offers on April 18 and 19 range from Easter ham – boiled or in bread dough, to Easter eggs, sponge lambs, Reindling and Osterpinze. In addition, the fish stand offers freshly smoked trout. On Holy Saturday, the market innkeeper serves the traditional Easter snack.

As local customs and long-standing traditions are also cultivated at the city market, the popular "Easter egg cracking" event takes place again on Holy Saturday at 10:30 am. Many guests from public life engage in an amusing competition with high entertainment value. The basket weaver is also present on both days, and the "Ratscher" from Dölsach provide additional Easter atmosphere.
