Customs and traditions at the Lienz town market

During Holy Week, the Lienz town market offers not only special opening hours, but also all the ingredients for a tasty Easter snack, the popular rattling noise, and the entertaining egg cracking.

The fish stand also offers freshly smoked trout. On Holy Saturday, the market innkeeper serves the traditional Easter snack.

A special highlight at the town market is the local tradition preservation, where long-standing traditions are maintained. And so, on Holy Saturday at 10:30 a.m., the popular "egg cracking" takes place, where many guests of public life engage in an amusing competition with high entertainment value. Basket weaver Johann Reiter is also present on both days. The rattlers from Thurn also provide further Easter atmosphere.
