The popular “Moonlight Shopping” in the town centre, Lienz – The shopping town that has it all
annually in July and August.
From apple liquor to wooden bowls
Shopping makes one happy. Especially in Lienz. The mix of sectors is co-
lourful. But let’s talk about the unique things Lienz has to offer. Folk cos-
tumes, for example. Traditional or a bit more modern. Tailor-made, if you
wish. Dirndl dresses from high-grade fabrics, rustic trousers from fine le-
ather. And some hand-made shoes. All things to last a lifetime. Lienz is a
“metropolis”, at least as far as fashion trends are concerned. There’s also
a wide array of culinary delicacies. Stroll through the alleys and across the
squares. Grant yourself long-time wishes. A holiday is the perfect time for it.
Souvenir, souvenir …
Of course, you can take a doll in traditional costume or a weather house
home. We do have some alternative suggestions for Lienz souvenirs,
though: Award-winning liquors, with the “Pregler” – a traditional liquor from
apples and pears made only in East Tyrol – as their king. Award-winning ba-
con, tasty sausages, grey chees, regional artisan crafts, a “Lienz Rose®”,
gingerbread made according to an original recipe from 1644 (Original Li-
enzer Lebzelt 1644®), a book about the town, and so on, and so forth …
In Lienz, the Town of the Sun, people use comfortable paper or
cotton bags. And not only for environmental reasons, but also be-
cause, on the cotton bags that can be bought at the citizens’ ser-
vice office in the Liebburg, there are various cheerful thoughts from
artist Hans Salcher for sunny spirits.
